Our Choirs

Over the last 20 years, the students and directors of Newsome Chorus have passionately and tirelessly worked, in and out of class, earning many outstanding awards. In addition to Superior Awards at MPA, various awards at competitions throughout the country, participation in All-County, All-State, and Honor Choirs, and regular performances in Disney’s Candlelight Ceremony, the Newsome Chorus has also received two prestigious invitations to perform for the American Choral Directors Association Conferences.

Nouveau Etoile

Nouveau Etoile is made up of ladies who are taking chorus for the first time in high school. This enthusiastic and fun group of ladies performs a wide variety of challenging and entertaining treble choir music. This group does not require an audition and is open to any female student wishing to learn more about singing alone and in a choir.

Mens Choir

Men’s Choir is made up of gentlemen in the choral program both at the beginning and advanced levels. This energetic and talented group of singers performs a challenging and entertaining array of men’s choral music. This group does not require an audition and is open to any male student wishing to learn more about singing alone and in a choir.

Harmonia

Harmonia is made up of ladies in the choral program who have completed at least one year of high school choir. This dynamic group of singers performs a challenging and entertaining array of treble choral music. This group requires director recomendation and does not require an audition.

Belle Voix

Belle Voix is made up of ladies in the choral program who have completed at least one year of high school choir. This outstanding group of singers performs a challenging and entertaining array of treble choral music. This group requires director recommendation and does not require an audition.

Chamber Choir

Chamber Choir is an auditioned group of singers in grades 10-12. This dedicated and talented group of singers performs an advanced level of choral music and often tour and perform outside of the school. Singers in this group have completed a rigorous audition process involving sight-singing, musicianship, and a vocal audition.

ELITE

ELITE is Newsome’s mixed voice show choir. This group is comprised of 32 auditioned singers who perform a variety of jazz, musical theatre, and pop music. Singers in this group dance and perform entertaining and exciting shows all over the community. Singers in this group have completed a rigorous audition process involving sight-singing, dancing, musicianship, and a vocal audition. Singers in this ensemble are also members of the Chamber Choir.

Shades of Blue

Shades of Blue is Newsome’s all female show choir. It is comprised of ladies in the choral program with at least one year of experience. This fun and close knit group of ladies sings, dances, and performs a variety of musical theatre and pop music. This is an extra-curricular choir that meets after school. One year of high school choral experience is required to join this group. There is no audition.
